Kracher Burgenland Zweigelt Red 2017
Bright cherry red in appearance. Aromas of ripe strawberries and black heart cherries. Red currants and sour cherry compote characters on the palate, over sweet strawberry confiture and a distinctive red wine character. Delicate citrus notes and a fine rum pot fruit on the finish.
Vivid notes of plum tart and cinnamon play on the nose. On the palate, the intense sweetness is carried by lovely, tart and welcomed freshness. There is something tingling about this, and a lovely, tart, alluring bitterness. All is here in a totally compact, fresh, sweet package of surprising intensity. The finish lasts and lasts.
The 2017 Zeweigelt Beerenauslese is an attractive, quirky sweet wine. Dried rose petal, spice, mint, cedar and leather all give the 2017 lovely aromatic lift. Readers will find a very pretty, relatively light wine with a modest impression of sweetness at the BA level. Certainly, the 2017 Zweigelt is an excellent choice for readers who don't want to go too deep into a richer style of BA.
