Ripe strawberry and mulberry flavors are an enticing entry point for this elegant, medium-bodied red. Mouthwatering acidity and light, creamy tannins frame the fruit profile as it transitions to notes of red licorice, graphite, dried thyme and spicy mineral. Nero d'Avola. Drink now through 2027. 5,000 cases made, 1,600 cases imported.

Balsamic aromas of crushed mint, camphor and star anise are front and center in this barrel-aged red. The aromas carry over to the firm palate along with dried black cherry and a hint of coffee bean. Taut, fine-grained tannins provide tight support. Drink through 2024.

Inward, backward and slightly balsamic, the 2017 Nero d'Avola Saia lifts up with notes of plum sauce, lavender, tobacco and hints of camphor. It's soft and fleshy in texture, showing ripe red and black fruits over a core of vibrant acidity. Round tannins come forward through the finale, framing notes of peppery herbs and dark chocolate. This is a fun Nero d'Avola for near-term pleasure, but it lacks any serious depth.
